ADR Online - An AIAC Webinar Series - Sports in the New Age of Physical Distancing: What an Athlete, a Sports Practitioner and Sporting Associations Have to Say About It
Our next webinar, titled “Sports in the New Age of Physical Distancing: What an Athlete, a Sports Practitioner and Sporting Associations Have to Say About It” will be held on Monday, 27th April 2020 at 3:00 p.m. MYT (GMT+8).
The COVID-19 pandemic has wreaked havoc in the global sporting industry. This includes competitions being postponed, anxieties over pay cuts, the renegotiation of terms relating to contractual benefits and endorsements, to loss of profits to broadcasters and commercial partners, all of which are affected by the uncertainty of scheduling sport events and tournaments in the future. Sports stakeholders around the world are facing challenges in anticipation of the sporting world’s eventual return to normalcy.
The panel will discuss what approaches have been taken so far by global sports bodies, how various commercial contract obligations are being restructured, as well as how athletes are coping with staying relevant and ready for their return.
Our panel includes: Paul J Hayes QC, 39 Essex Chambers, Thomas Delaye-Fortin, Badminton World Federation, and Low Wee Wern, Professional Squash Athlete, Asian Games Team Gold Medalist (2010, 2014).
Diana Rahman, Senior Case Counsel of the AIAC, will be moderating this session.
